Read me

 

For Conference Attendees

1. Please test at https://fast.com/ to ensure network stability and a connection speed of 20Mbs or above. Please refrain from using cymo in a public wifi environment with unstable internet connection, i.e. cafes, shopping centers and libraries.

2. An cymo Equipment Certification held in the possession of your interpreter represents approval by cymo of the quality of the interpreter’s audio input environment. If no such certification is held, then cymo does not guarantee the interpreter’s equipment compliance with high-level conference requirements. You can choose to continue employing said equipment and interpreters where limitations to exchange quality are minimal.

3. To avoid microphone feedback caused by output from computer speakers, please maintain proper volume control and turn off microphones when no speakers are in session.

4. Please test to ensure equipment functionality prior to conference commencement.

5. The default duration for conferences is 10 hours.

 

For Audience Members

1. 1. Please test at https://fast.com/ to ensure network stability and a connection speed of 10Mbs or above. Please ensure proper wifi speed and connectivity if you are in a hotel, company conference room, or a similar environment. If unable, please switch to a 4G or 5G network when using cymo to ensure connection quality.

2. Please test to ensure equipment functionality prior to conference commencement.

 

For Interpreters

The following instructions are compiled for review by simultaneous interpreting personnel. Following said instructions and adhering to proper operating protocol will facilitate a quality conference and interpreting experience. However, cymo shall not be responsible for any quality issues in conference exchanges or adverse experiences on part of conference attendees resulting from a failure to comply with said instructions.

1. Please ensure proper network connectivity, and refrain from using cymo in a public wifi environment with unstable internet connection, i.e. cafes, shopping centers and libraries.

2. Please ensure a quiet, interference-free working environment that is suitable for interpreting purposes.

3. Please use earphones in all instances to avoid microphone feedback caused by output from computer speakers – this is a primary requisite for all interpreters using Cymo.

4. Please make sure to use wired headphones or earphones to prevent issues occurring over the course of the conference, including battery depletion for bluetooth earphones, and transmission latency and audio lag caused by wireless earphones.

5. Please test to ensure equipment functionality prior to conference commencement. Due to variation in specific device parameters and the individual preferences of interpreters, using a personal earphone device is recommended. Additionally, please maintain your volume at a reasonable and safe level over the course of the conference to ensure that your device setup allows for sufficient comfort over a sustained period of work.

6. In the event that a laptop and personal microphone is being used, please refrain from typing on a keyboard to prevent interference with audio quality. Wired earphones or silent, wireless keyboards are recommended to ensure separation of microphone and keyboard. If using a keyboard is necessary, please ensure adequate distance between the microphone and keyboard is maintained.

7. Once an optimal equipment and communication environment has been established, please contact cymo customer service. Upon observation and assessment of actual conference communication quality, cymo will confer upon interpreters an Equipment Certification Icon visible to all attendees.

Certification Assessment Criteria:1. Network speed 20Mbs or above as tested via https://fast.com/. 2. Uninterrupted and audible interpretation soundstream for audience. 3. Actual work environment complies with low-noise requirements. 4. Interpreter able to operate SI interface with proficiency, and perform toggle language, microphone on/off, mute, and interpreter switch actions. 5. Other required assessment conditions. 6. Consents to the use of cymo solely in certified environments.
